Playgrounds: a portrait of rave culture
The acclaimed best seller ....
Listed as a best seller in 2006, Playgrounds incorporates facets of worldwide dance music culture into a vivid and at times harrowing tale. From the pioneers of dance music Sasha and John Digweed to Jeff Mills, Adam Freeland and a host of the world’s best, Playgrounds is a unique portrait of the dance generation in which the best night of your life can only come at a price.
Tom Griffin has been a part of the electronic and dance music scene for well over a decade. Griffin saw the industrial Dockland Sheds in Melbourne as the perfect setting for Playgrounds, a novel written as a portrait of the 90’s electronica explosion throughout the world.
Griffin continues to be based in Melbourne, working for a London publishing company.
Playgrounds was launched at the Advent*jah dance festival at Kryal Castle in 2005 in front of around 4000+ people.
Playgrounds was listed as a best seller in March 2006 by Australia’s largest book retailer, Angus and Robertson.
