THE future of rave parties at Kryal Castle is expected to be decided today.
A hearing began yesterday in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on a Ballarat Health Services application to ban raves at the Warrenheip theme park.
The last rave party held at Kryal Castle on December 8 last year saw 14 people overdose on a mix of drugs including GHB (gamma-hydroxybutric acid), ice and amphetamines.
Three people were admitted to BHS Base Hospital's intensive care unit, with BHS chief executive officer Andrew Rowe warning a fatality was inevitable.
The previous festival, in February last year, resulted in 11 people attending BHS suffering from drug overdoses.
Kryal Castle's next event, which was scheduled for February this year, has been postponed until November.
Moorabool Shire Council had also applied to VCAT to review the conditions of rave party permits at Kryal Castle.
